Tea of the Day - 4.26.08

Morning tea fans.......I come back bearing gifts of a glorious tea morning, and what better way then with a traditional favorite......Peet's English Breakfast tea

"The brisk and slightly tangy character of high-grown India teas makes English Breakfast a favorite among Peet's customers. Like any good English Breakfast tea, the blend is formulated with milk and sugar in mind. Still, the cup is mild and balanced enough to enjoy straight, allowing the natural lemony qualities of the tea to emerge. "

How can you go wrong with EB tea ?!? ENJOY !!!

Captain.....we've got POWER !!

UGh, what a chaotic two days......yesterday we woke up to NO POWER. Apparently, a truck and a power station decided to rumble, and lets just say......the TRUCK won!! No power meant no blowdryer or flat-iron, so you can just image what I ended up looking like going to work. It also meant no power to make TEA or to have computer access, which in turn meant no TotD update.....sorry :(

It also meant no way to get gas for my car.....which meant I had to wait until I got across state lines to get gas.....and paid about 20cents more a gallon....NICE (thanks TRUCK ). Yesterday was a clean-up day at work......not alot of orders, so I had a chance to go through my holds and inquires and get my emails out. I also was able to contact some new brides and sort though wedding dates that have already passed, so by the time I got home last night, I was SPENT.....I even went to bed early.

Today is my DH's birthday, but he's at work until 9pm tonight, so we're celebrating tomorrow. I'm off today to get his birthday presents and a card, so WISH ME LUCK !!!

Tea of the Day - 4.24.08

Glorious morning all....technical difficulties are hopefully resolved, so I am back on schedule!!

Today's tea selection is another from my Numi Tea assortment.....
White Nectar Osmanthus Spring

"Numi's organic White Nectar™ features Osmanthus, a rare Chinese flower rich in antioxidants. An ancient Chinese poet wrote that it comes from the moon; a bit of the lingering fragrance, makes all the flowers blossom. Its fruity scent enhances the smooth delicacy of Fair Trade Certified Spring White Tea, the tender bud of the tea plant. This radiant blend forms a harmony of luscious sweetness charmed by apricots. Balanced and light, White Nectar™ nurtures the spirit and mind with its abundant health benefits and divine taste."

A very charming and smooth tea for the morning....the apricots give it a nice sweetness that doesn't overpower.....I may have to buy some more of this one......YUMM!

Don't forget to enjoy a cup (or pot) of tea today !!!!

Yet contains no sugar or other sweeteners. The flavor is all natural, emanating from orange peels, hibiscus flowers, apple pieces, rose hip and safflower. Highly addictive; Please proceed with caution!"

Tea of the Day - 4.20.08

Happy Sunday morning, my tea peeps.....it is a glorious day on the east coast....to celebrate the sunny morning, I chose another Numi tea, Morning Rise - Breakfast Blend

"Numi perfects the classic breakfast tea with this organic black tea blend, Morning Rise. Four of the most extraordinary black teas compose this hearty, complex, and exciting morning cup. Ceylon, gardened in the small and exotic country of Sri Lanka, bestows its strong yet smooth profile, while Indian grown Assam imparts a malty and robust depth. Keemun, from China, offers deep burgundy notes that complement the natural floral finish and fruity Muscatel of Darjeeling, cultivated on the mountain peaks of India. This rich, bold black tea blend has an unrivaled smoothness and a magnificent aroma resembling dawn's early warmth. Let the morning greet you through the radiant daybreak of Numi's superior Breakfast Blend."

What a pleasant suprise....this is a really nice tea.....I usually prefer a proper English Breakfast tea, if that's the way I'm heading in the morning, but I love the taste of this organic blend. A spoonful of sugar (a'la Mary Poppins) and a splash of organic Half & Half, and this cup was GONE in a flash......I wish I had another bag so I could have a second cup.....alas, my sampler pack only has one bag per flavor.......DARN....

Enjoy your tea today!!

Another day of presents !!!

So, I took yesterday off for my birthday, and when I got to work this morning, I was greeted to a decorated desk, along with gifts......

From my coworkers.....a beautiful mug with a matching spoonrest/teabag tray:

And a surprise package from Sephora (I think it came from my DH.....)

It's the new limited edition L.A.M.B rollerball fragrance, which matches the L.A.M.B spray and lotion I received at Xmas, along with a deluxe sample of MakeUpForEver Aqua Eyes eyeliner in Black, a Birthday sampling of their Happy Birthday Cake shower gel and deluxe samples of Bulgari Rose Essentielle fragrance, Cargo bronzer and L'Occitane face cream

Then I got home from work today to receive my package from my Ravelry Earth Day swap partner Alexandra (aka curlyqnj). She's been sending me little notes about the swap, and told me to expect a package from CANADA.....which arrive today.......my-oh-my......what a bounty.

A great patter for a pair of socks...Daydreamer Socks (by Alyson Johnson), along with my FIRST set of double-pointed needles, size 2-1/2 from HiyaHiya and a beautiful skein of Bamboolicious from Zen Yarn Garden. The colorway is SO ME.......Lime Tahiti !!
A girl could get SO used to this.......

Tea of the Day - 4.16.08

Ok, back to our regularly scheduled program.......after my self-empossed Birthday hiatus, we're back with a great selection......TEAVANA Apple Lemon Pomegranate
"A refreshing green Rooibos tea with the uplifting taste of lemongrass, tart apples, succulent cherry bits, green cardamom and pomegranate pieces." To me, this is quite a complex tea.....best with just a bit of honey, and nothing else. It's like a fruit bowl, in a cup!!
Take a moment and enjoy a cup of tea today !!!

Turning the BIG -4-0-

OK, so it's true......I had a birthday today. I've been in a real bad *funk* about it over the last week....reflecting on what I haven't accomplished in the last forty years. I got myself so worked up that I finally cracked at work yesterday. My boss told me that maybe I needed to take a PTO day and relax, which I did......I wasn't quite at the POSTAL-point yet, but I was gettin' there.

So, I woke this morning, and had my "A-HA" moment......it's JUST a number. My world is not going to crumble around me because I'm forty. I have a wonderful, loving husband and a marriage I am proud of. I have my pets, my babies who are my refuge and comfort and love me unconditionally. I have family and friends that truly care about my happiness. My life has been full, and will continue to blossom.

So, that being said......I decided to take a "tea posting" sabbatical, so that I could concentrate on having a great birthday. My DH made me breakfast, let me sit and do crafting without bothering me, and let me watch my soap opera, without comments about how boring it was (I am a Y&R fan, so I just gotta watch it when I'm home). We then went out for the afternoon. He bought me two CD's for my birthday....

We then stopped at AC Moore, so that I could pick up some supplies. My oldest nephew's birthday is this week, and he's going to be 13. This is the same nephew that is into theater and as a combo surprise for maintaining his -A- average in school and his birthday, DH and I (mostly ME) are surprising him with a trip to NYC to see the Broadway production of RENT, before it closes permanently on June 1st. So, I worked on his card today, and here it is.....
I've never scrap booked before, but I really got into this......I might have to do this more often!! I can't wait to give this to him this weekend, and see his reaction.

After we left AC Moore, then we stopped at Kohl's, and we decided to finally use a gift card we received at Xmas to buy a new blender. We have never owned a blender, and even though we asked for one on our wedding registry, we never received it. With summer coming, I thought it would be nice to have not only to make healthy smoothies, but to make some nice cocktails !!! So we found this on, which is tool cool because it's got this cool blue light that glows when it's plugged in....it's the Hamilton Beach:Liquid Blu

After our shopping spree, we went to dinner at one of my favorite restaurants.......Potstickers. We had California Roll sushi, along with a Potsticker sampler. DH had Grilled Lam chops for his entreƩ, while I had Crispy prawns with Walnuts and Brown rice.....YUMMO! And, I had a Mango Mojito, which totally made my night!!

After we left dinner, we stopped at Border's Books, as I wanted to pick up a tour book for NYC, to help plan our day trip. Between that book and all of the magazine's we bought (People, PC World [for DH],the spring 2008 issue of Knitter's magazine, and spring/summer 2008 KnitSimple, we spent over $30.00. My treat was to pick up desert (since I did not have a traditional birthday cake), so I got this phenomenal piece of chocolate/marshmallow bliss......

So, in a nutshell......I've accepted my birthday, it was an exhausting day, and I am now ready for bed. I'll resume my tea posts tomorrow.

Later all.......

Tea of the Day - 4.14.08

Happy Monday.......so I realize it's morning, but my tea selection today is described more for the afternoon. I've chose UPTON's Baker Street Afternoon Blend
A bit of Lapsang Souchong is blended with Keemun and Darjeeling, yielding a mildly smoky tea. Very robust, and perfect for the beginning of the week.
Happy Tea Drinking !!!

This is full-leaf Chinese black tea blended with Hawaiian coconut.......It's just a bit of A-L-O-H-A in a cup!!
Ugh.....of to start paying Uncle Sam.........Happy Tea Thoughts.......

Tea of the Day 4.12.08

OMG, it's almost afternoon......sorry this is getting posted so late in the morning. I had a rough night, and slept in.

Today, I awoke to thunderstorms and painful charley-horse's in my left calf and thigh (which is what kept me awake most of the night), so in honor of that, I decided to make myself a strong, cup of custom-blended Chai........I've mixed:

TEAVANA's Masala Chai black tea

TEAVANA's Honeybush Vanilla herbal tea

and what I got was a cinnamon-spicy, creamy black tea with a big PUNCH of vanilla flavor. All I needed to add was a couple of scoops of German rock cane sugar and a splash of organic half & half

YUMMO !!! Enjoy some tea today !!!!

Tea of the Day - 4.11.08

Whew......internet problems this morning, so I almost didn't get this posted. I needed a wake-up call this morning, in the form of a stong cup of tea. Today's choice.......Sweet Cranberry Black from Teavana

Ceylon black tea, blackberry leaves and cranberry pieces.....what's NOT to LOVE ?!?! And yes, that is organic half & half too.....

Happy Friday, and enjoy some tea today!!!

A "STAR" is born, Pink Floyd stash and YOUR comments answered !!

Hello all......the last few days have been a whirlwind.....work is slowing sucking the energy and life from me. I so wish I would get sick again, just so that I would have a few days off to sleep. Honestly, I really think that i've never gotten over my bronchitis, so maybe that's why I'm still run down. Then there is always the saying......"I'll sleep when I'm dead...."

Last night, was opening night of my nephew's school play. He's a budding thespian.....he's been involved in his school plays since grade school, and he's even planning to audition for the local performing arts high school next year. He's so talented....and he has such a passion for it, I am just such a fan of his. Anyway, this year he had one of the lead roles, so he had lines and a solo song, so I just had to be there on opening night. Granted, this is a middle school production, so sound and lighting was NOT Broadway-caliber. While most of the kids didn't project and were hard to hear (and off key), my nephew knocked it OUTTA the park!! His vocal and music teachers have both said that he projects the best.....he was one of two performers that did NOT have to be miked, and his singing voice is just SO good. It was like he had his own FAN CLUB....me, my parents, and my aunt & uncle. His mom and her best friend are going to tonight's performance, and his mom & dad are going Saturday night's finale. I remember, so fondly, performing in my own school plays......oh so long ago, so I am just thrilled that he's getting to experience the same fun.......with almost all of the after-school funding being cut, it's a struggle each year to put these shows on, so I am so thankful that he's getting the opportunity at all. Next week is a HUGE reveal to him (for his birthday......he'll officially be a TEENAGER), and it related to all of this (so I can't say NOW, but will later...)

I finally got my last pending Etsy package yesterday, and BOY was it worth the wait! I received a Pink Floyd-inspired skein of hand-dyed sock yarn......from Crash Into Ewe. It called "Dark Side of the Moon" and is such a FUN colorway.....very bright and cheery.....and SO evokes the album cover. When I was surfing around on Etsy and saw this, I immediately thought of my DH...he is SUCH a PF fan, so I immediately snatched it up. Well, that was in late March, and Terry (the designer and owner) was such a sweetie.....when the package didn't arrive she started trying to track it down. She even took the time to call me at work (and coinsidently the package was delivered WHILE we were on the phone with one another). Here it is.....too cool!

Finally, thanks for all of your recent comments.....they are fun to read! Since a couple of you have asked some questions, I thought I would answer them here......
hodgepodgespv said....."i notice you use dairy in lots of you teas..."
yes, I do tend to use dairy whenever I can. I used to use straight milk, however I recently switched to organic half & half, which I much prefer.

Jenny M said......."I think it's your teacup, but everyday I think that you've got milky tea."
Jenny, you would be RIGHT, most of the time. I can't tell you how many cups of tea I've had to re-brew because I've ruined it with dairy. I find that if's its got any significant about of citrus, I have to drink it without milk. I also tend to drink my morning and evening cups with, and tea throughout the day without.....it just depends on what I'm drinking!

Thanks for your comments, and keep 'em coming! Happy Friday !!!
